Education Forum with Simon Birmingham

Paul hosted an education forum with the Minister for Education and Training, Senator the Hon Simon Birmingham, and representatives from local secondary schools and community colleges in Bradfield. Minister Birmingham spoke on the Turnbull Government’s recent achievements in landmark education reforms, specifically highlighting the passage of the Australian Education Amendment Act 2017 at the end of the Autumn Session of Parliament.

Attendees included principals of government, catholic and independent schools in Bradfield and representatives from their parent groups and school councils. Minister Birmingham outlined the Turnbull Government’s roadmap for further education reforms including the Higher Education reform and the Gonski 2.0 review into Achieving Academic Excellence in Australian Schools. There was a broad and constructive discussion which extended well beyond school funding issues to consider how best our schools can deliver on their mission of educating the next generation of Australians.
