Matter of Public Portance: Economy

Mr FLETCHER (Bradfield—Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for Communications) (15:20): It is a pleasure to have the opportunity to speak on the third MPI debate raised by the Labor Party in the last three or four weeks. We had the member for Blaxland putting up: 'The importance of planning for the jobs of the future'.

Mr FLETCHER (Bradfield—Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for Communications) (15:38):  The proposition that has been put before the House this afternoon by the Labor Party is that there has apparently been a failure: firstly, to plan; secondly, for fair and sustainable retirement; and, thirdly, for all Australians.

Constituency Statement: Palliative care

Mr FLETCHER (Bradfield—Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for Communications) (10:32): Palliative care and dying at home are issues that can be confronting to talk about, but with our ageing population and more people living longer with cancer and other terminal diseases, these are issues that we, as a community, need to discuss.

MPI Debate: Jobs of the new economy

Mr FLETCHER (Bradfield—Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for Communications) (15:26): It would seem that the Leader of the Opposition has discovered the Net! All of a sudden, he is keen on technology.

Mr FLETCHER (Bradfield—Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for Communications) (20:46):  I am very pleased to speak on the Labor 2013-14 Budget Savings (Measures No.1) Bill 2014, which is an important bill that repeals the second round of the carbon tax related personal income tax cuts that, in the absence of this bill passing into law, would take effect from 1 July this year.

Mr FLETCHER (Bradfield—Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for Communications) (17:07):  I am very pleased to rise to speak on the Tax and Superannuation Laws Amendment (Employee Share Schemes) Bill 2015. It is an important bill that will improve the taxation arrangements for employee share schemes.
