14th Annual National Student Leadership Forum – nominations now open
Paul Fletcher MP, Federal Member for Bradfield, announced today that nominations are now open for the 14th Annual National Student Leadership Forum on faith and values to be held in Parliament House and the Hyatt Hotel Canberra from the 15-18 September.
‘The National Student Leadership Forum is a four-day symposium preparing young adults for leadership in all walks of life’ said Mr Fletcher.
‘Last year five participants were chosen from Bradfield – more than from any other electorate around the country.
‘Since its inception in 1997, the Forum has become one of Australia’s pre-eminent leadership development initiatives. It offers participants an opportunity to discuss and explore the significance of faith and values as foundations for effective leadership and in particular servant leadership.
‘About 225 young adults aged between 18 and 26 from around Australia and neighbouring nations are selected to attend. The 4 days traditionally begin in Parliament House with Keynote addresses from the Prime Minister and Leader of the Opposition followed by small group meetings with individual Parliamentary Hosts in their offices, and a Welcome Dinner in the Great Hall.
‘Delegates are given the opportunity first hand to engage with the Parliamentary Hosts and learn how their leadership roles are influenced by their own values.
‘Over the course of the four days, the delegates will also hear from other well known business and community leaders, take part in small group discussions, and join in a 300 strong ‘hands on’ local community service project.
‘NSLF is hosted by a multi-party group of Federal Parliamentarians – of which I am one – who share a commitment to inspire and equip the next generation of Australian leaders.’
