Good morning everyone, it is great to be here in Shanghai at one of the world’s leading events for the mobile industry.
No industry operates in a vacuum.
But there are few industries which have the broad social and economic impact of the mobile communications sector.
It is a pleasure to be here to speak at the launch of the Edelman Trust Barometer – which contains the sobering if perhaps not entirely surprising news that not all Australians trust their government or their politicians.
This is a very timely conference – because everyone is talking about fintech. Many entrepreneurs are working on ideas to use technology to deliver financial services in different – often disruptive – ways to better meet the needs of customers.
A few weeks ago I joined Communications Minister Malcolm Turnbull and Member for Maranoa Bruce Scott on a visit to the Longreach School of Distance Education.
